Side Notes

The Giants had to stop the game last night vs. the Cubs. It was really windy and I think at the start of the game the wind was blowing 25-30mph. I watched some of the game on TV and was amazed at how they could even play. Zito got the start for the Giants. He pitched 5 innings giving up 3 runs and getting 7 strike outs. That’s a decent start for Zito. Giants got the win 5-3 over the Cubs.

Jesus Guzman didn’t get the off day like the rest of the Giants on Wednesday. He played a minor league game, so he can work on playing 1st base. This guy has been on fire with his bat, but the Giants don’t know where to put him on defense. They have him trying to play more first base.

Boy – the Pete Rose story all over again. I watched him play and it’s tough even thinking about what happened. If the players who used steroids get into the HOF then baseball needs to lift the ban so Pete can enter also.

I agree that Pete should be allowed entry to the HOF. I also got to watch him play, and he was a special talent despite his “issues”. Sounds like it was a good win for Zito and Giants. Congrats! Also, congrats for #16 on the latest leaders board!

Thanks another reason to hate SI.
I am still on the front of the Pete Rose bus to get him into the Hall of Fame. My favorite line from him is that he bet on his team to win games, not lose.
It might be wrong to bet on games with such a personal stake in the end result, but at least he did not throw 2 games of a World Series like Eddie Cicotte.
And do not get me started on Shoeless Joe Jackson. lol

Congrats on your rise up the rankings. That is a prime result of great articles and a great fan base now.

I watched a little of the Cubs-Giants game, and the wind was wicked. Great to see Z have a decent outing. Striking out the side in the 1st inning was impressive. Of course, it was tarnished a bit by the long ball he gave up in the 2nd, but these things happen, especially in ST.

KofC, Is no longer windy here in Glendale at least. Funny that the times I’ve come to see the Ddogers at Camelback Ranch, I have not seen the Giants play them but then again since they share the complex with the Sox, they play eatch other more.
