The Giants have three more games to go before they season starts. Last night Barry Zito got lit up by his former team the Oakland Athletics. I didn’t care if the Giants won or lost. The only thing I wanted out of that game was for Zito to pitch a decent game. Now that he got rocked. I’m sure his head isn’t right, and he won’t be as confident as he takes the mound in Houston.
Buster Posey is more than likely to start the season in Fresno. It hasn’t been announced as of yet, but he would lose a lot of AB’s at the start of the season if he made the 25 man roster. The Posey era is on hold for now.

The Giants have two prospects that made the MLB.com’s top 50 prospects. The two players are Buster Posey and Maddison Bumgarner. Posey was ranked 4th and Bumgarner was ranked #10. The sad thing is we only had 2 of the top 50, but at least our two were in the top ten.
A lot of Giants fans are excited to see what these two guys can do. They did both play in a game together last year for the Giants. This was when the Giants got spanked by the Dodgers. Bumgarner pitched a scoreless inning with Posey behind the plate. Then Posey got his first major league hit the next inning.
For more insights from me on these two players. Go SF Giants Rumors! I have the scouting reports and more thoughts. These two guys will be part of our future, and lets get the future starting in 2010!

All The Latest SF Giants Rumors
Tonight is the final Brad Penny start of the season. The Giants still have a shot of making the playoffs. We would have to win out and the Rockies will have to lose the rest of their games. Pretty much it’s slim to none of a chance. I’m already passed the disapointed stage. These Giants still had a very good season. I mean a good season is making the playoffs, but this team wasn’t expected to still be in the playoff race at this time. I just started a site that I’m going to use for Giants rumors and anything Giants that I want to post. The site is www.sfgiantsbaseball.net. It’s still at the begining stages so it’s not everything that I want it to be just yet.
Here is some posts that have been added.

This is a short little blog. Just some random thoughts. It’s time to keep it real Giants fans. We are currently 5 games out with 11 games to go and our chances are slim to none. I believe the Giants went above and beyond what anyone expected this year. No I’m not throwing up the white flag, but just trying to keep it real. We were a big bat away from winning a lot of game this year. We knew coming into the season offense was going to be our problem and our pitching staff was going to be keeping us in games. Our pitching brought us this far and now Lincecum, Cain and Sanchez are tired and not able to keep up the strong pitching.
I say we start the Posey era tonight. Let’s see what he can do for the rest of the season. Molina looks so tired out there. Let’s get Bumgarner a start too before this season ends. Let’s see what we have, so we can get a little excited for next season.

With the trading deadline getting closer and closer. It seems like all you hear now is about different trade rumors that are swirling around. The early rumors was the Giants were interested in Dan Uggla and Nick Johnson. That’s still one that is still going around. The Giants are also linked to Jermaine Dye, Victor Martinez and Mark Teahen. The Giants really do have a lot of options when it comes to making a move. Our offense has a lot of holes that need to be filled.
The Giants offense actually has been coming around, but they can still use
another solid bat or two in their lineup. Dye is a decent bat with some good pop to add, but I wouldn’t give up any top prospects for him. Victor Martinez would be a decent pick up as well. They would have to play him at 1st base when Molina is catching. I’m not to big on making a trade for Teahen. He has a decent bat and can play multiple positions but I would only get him if everything else didn’t go through and I pretty much got him for nothing. I keep going back and forth with Uggla but he does have some pop. His avg is just way down right now, but that could make him a lot easier to trade for. I’m sure the Giants are wishing they made the trade Jonathan Sanchez for Jorge Cantu when the Marlins wanted to make that move.
I would love to see Holliday in a Giants uniform, but I wouldn’t make the trade since the Giants would have to part with some decent players and Holliday’s contract ends after this year, so there is no guarantee that he would sign with the Giants. I hear a lot of fans scared to make a trade cause they don’t want to give up the players that are up and coming. Don’t worry Giants fans they are not going to trade Posey or Bumgarner, but you do have to give up players to get players. That’s why some of these players are in our minors. They can help us with trade bait and then we have some that are untouchable.

I thought Randy Johnson looked very good last night. You can’t expect much more than what he gave us. I’m sure he can give us over 10 wins this year. I’m thinking 12 or more. He did have two bad pitches and those were both home runs. One was a solo shot to Cameron and the other was a 3 run shot by the pitcher. He had him in a 1-2 count and put a fast ball right down the middle. That is the first time in Johnson career that he has given up a home run to a pitcher.
Giants had their chances to score a couple times. The best chance they had was bases loaded with their cleanup hitter up. I’m a Bengie fan but he’s just not a #4 hitter. He’s the worse cleanup hitter in the league. He grounded out to the shortstop to end the inning. Earlier in the game when they had another chance to score. Molina hit into a double play. I think the Giants should move Pablo Sandoval up to the 4th spot, then Ishikawa to #5. I would then even move Rowand up to #6 and put Molina in the #7th spot. He would be a great hitter lower in the lineup, but he’s just not a cleanup hitter.
San Jose Giants
The Giants Single A team has their home opener tonight. There is really a buzz around here with this team. The Giants have their top 5 prospects starting in San Jose. They have 4 former first-round picks. Some players that will be there are Buster Posey, Madison Bumgarner, Tim Alderson and the 18 year old Dominican first baseman Angel Villalona. The Giants signed him when he was 16. They are expecting him to be a big time power hitter by the time he makes up to the San Francisco Giants.

I’m curious to see what other bloggers out there think about their teams. I want to know who you think your #1 player is, most excited to see play this year and one prospect that we should all watch out for in the near future….
Giants #1 Player…
I think the Giants #1 player is Tim Lincecum. I wish I could say it was an everyday player but it’s not. Which means our #1 player only plays every 5 days, but he’s one hell-of-a-player! Everyone knows he won the Cy Young last year. I think he’s only going to get better. I mean it’s hard to match the stats he had last season, but that was just his first full season. He’s going to learn more about the hitters and his pitches. He’s got Randy Johnson to absorb a lot of knowledge off of.
Most Excited To See…
The player I’m most excited to see play this year is Pablo Sandoval. This guy can flat out rake! He played in 41 games and the end of last season. He hit .345 during that time. He has been just as hot in spring training. He has hit 3 home runs and has a .460 batting avg. He is going to get on base a lot and drive in some runs for the Giants. He will be a spark plug to help jumpstart this offense.
Prospect To Watch Out For…
The up and coming prospect to look out for is Buster Posey. He is going to be the Giants catcher of the future. He also had a great spring and it looked like he was trying to battle it out with Molina for the starting role, but the Giants would like to see him catch a year in the minors. He will be brought up probably in September. I’m pretty sure he will be the Giants starting catcher next season.
