Giants edge out the Brew Crew
The Giants faced the Brew Crew today. Edgar Renteria got his first 2 RBI’s by hitting a 2 run double. In the 6th inning Juan Uribe hit a home run to give the Giants a 3-2 lead. Bowker then followed up with a home run to go back to back to give the Giants a 4-2 lead. The Giants would blow the lead and enter the bottom of the ninth down 6-5.
Ryan Rohlinger hit a 3 run home run in the bottom of the 9th inning to get the Giants the 8-6 win over the Brewers. The Giants who need a guy with pop have hit a home run in every single Cactus League game so far. They have 23 home runs and Ryan Rohlinger leads them with 3 home runs. Rohlinger isn’t expected to make the team at the start of the season.
Barry Zito did get the start for the Giants and he gave up 2 runs in 4 innings. Howry did pitch 2 innings giving up 0 runs and his spring ERA this so far is 0.00. The only player with multiple hits for the Giants was Velez who went 2-3 pushing his AVG up to .276.

Damn, only 12 years ago?? My, how time flies. LMAO
And to think, it’s only been 5 years since baseball RETURNED to Washington…remember, I went 34 years WITHOUT it!!
Speaking of which, I need to check up on how they’re doing tonight (playing Houston)…

I know these games don’t count, but I def like seeing what guys are doing. It’s a pretty accurate guage of what’s to come. Except when all-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman doesn’t pitch. Gah! We would’ve had you! It was a pretty good game though. Well, up until the 9th, anyway.

Sounds like the Giants had a great game. And thanks for the history lesson Prof. King!

I like the Rays better than the Devil Ray’s! Don’t know why?
I’ve been missing most of the Milwaukee Spring training action. For some reason it feels like less games are televised this year. I have caught a few on the radio, but I missed this one!

Do you think Barry Zito will rebound and have a good season, King? I’m sure Giants fans are really hoping he’ll turn it around.

Jane,
I think Zito will have a good year. He’s coming into the season in really good shape. He has been on Brian Wilson’s workout this offseason. I think another bonus is that Linceum is the Ace. They also picked up Johnson so Zito doesn’t have to feel like he’s the man and needs to be perfect. He will be our #4 starter which should really help him cause he’s not going up against anyone’s ace. Zito would be a really good #4 starter.

1997 wow kinda seems so far away now but time flies I suppose. And the Rocks don’t need a good Zito. Giants staff is looking dangerous enough.

The Diamondbacks!!! Yaaaaaaay!
That’s an awesome way to win the game…come-from-behinds are so exciting!

You know what sucks about this. The fact that both of them have been to the World Series and my Cubs haven’t. I must admit though, I was rooting for Tampa last October against the Phils.
