San Francisco Giants Baseball Rumors

Winter Meetings have come and gone and it’s still quiet in San Francisco. Sure there has been a lot of hot rumors going around, but Sabean hasn’t pulled the trigger yet. The Uggla rumors is still as hot as ever. The last I heard was the Marlins want Jonathan Sanchez, Clayton Tanner and a mid-level pitching prospect. To read my thoughts on this trade rummor click here.

I also heard that the Giants organization is doing well financially. Which means they can decide to take a little pay cut and sign a big player to keep the Giants fans happy. You will want to read my thoughts on this. I explain the difference between the Giants and Yankees. To read the rest of this rumor and my reactions to it click here.

Winter Meetings – San Francisco Giants

As we all know it’s winter meetings and all the rumors are starting to go around. The Giants have been linked to multiple players. Two of the players that have been linked to SF Giants Rumors have already signed with other teams. These players are Pudge Rodriguez and Brad Penny.

The rumors with Uggla continue everyday, and the Marlins have said they wanted major league ready players and the most recent news has been they want Madison Bumgarner for Uggla. We all know that the Giants will not part with Bumgarner unless they were getting someone like Babe Ruth in his prime. It’s only day two of the winter meetings so lets see what other Giants rumors will be brought up. If you would like to read more Giants Rumors click here.

Lets Go Giants – Clap, Clap!

It’s been a while since I have blogged. I have just been way to busy to do anything. I have still been talking and watching baseball. I don’t miss any games. If I can’t watch them. I’m listening or watching play by play on my phone. No I don’t have an Iphone, so I can’t get the games live on my phone. lol I can only see the pitch by pitch. lol

This season for the Giants has been magical. No matter how it ends. It will go down as a great/exciting year. I really loved the trade to get Freddy Sanchez even though he’s only played 13 games with us so far. This guy is a great player and his bat will be nice in our everyday lineup. I liked the Garko deal too, but he just hasn’t got hot yet. He did have one good game in Colorado where he hit 2 homeruns. Right now as I’m writing this blog. Brad Penny is making his first start as a Giant. I also like this pick up. Were basicly picking him up for nothing and he’s our #5 starter. That’s a great #5 starter cause I think he’s way better then a #5 starter. He’s going to be fine now that he’s back in the NL West. He’s not facing the Yankees over here.

The Giants have called up Buster Posey today after saying they were not going to bring him up this year. This is very exciting for Giants fans. He’s our future catcher and we know he’s got some game in him. He’s getting his chance to audition for the Giants, so they can decide to bring Bengie back next season or not. I’m sure Bengie is all of a sudden going to be able to play. Which is what I just heard. He said he’s going to be able to start tomorrow. I’m sure we will be seeing a Posey start soon too.

If you were to ask me at the beging of the season if I would be happy with the Giants record right now. I would have said hellllll yeah!!!!! Well now I want more wins (I’m greedy like that). I want them to make the playoffs and their behind the Rockies by 1 game. I think they can win the wild card spot with the pitching they have, but they just need to get some offense going.

Double Header With Nats – Giants/Braves Trigger Finger

Good news Giants fans. The Giants didn’t lose on the road last night. Well they actually didn’t even play. They waited over 3 hrs at the field to see if they can get the game in, but Mother Nature had other plans. Which means Randy Johnson has to wait another day to go for win #300. Johnson will take the mound today if the rain clears up. He will be pitching game 1 of the double header. Game 1 will be at 1:30pm pacific time. Game 2 will follow that with Matt Cain on the mound.

The Giants have been pretty much hopeless on the road. They have the 2nd best home record in the National League, but can’t seem to win on the road to save their lives. We probably have had the easiest road games possible to win so far this year, and we can’t even take advantage of that. I’m sure a lot of people don’t know this, but the Giants actually have the 2nd best home record in the National League. We are 2nd to the hated Dodgers!

Thoughts about Glavine/Braves and Giants non moves.

In recent news I’m sure that everyone has heard about Glavine getting released by the Braves. This is a guy that will be in the Hall of Fame for sure. This guy has had so many big games for the Braves. Do you think it was right that they released him? Well that all depends on how you look at the situation. The Braves look at it like a business. They want to win and will release a player like Glavine if they think they have someone better to fill his spot. They even went out and made a trade to get Nate McLouth. Now lets step back and look at the Giants. The Giants have a tough time in even thinking about releasing Rich Aurilia. He’s still on the team with a .200 Avg. He did actually get hot to get his Avg. up to .200 and he did hit his first home run last week. Giants can’t even release a fallen star when the Braves can release a future Hall of Famer. The Giants are just dangling Jonathan Sanchez and the Braves are out there making trades. Just shows you which team wants to win and pull the trigger on moves and which team just wants to dangle a player.

Please Help My Giants!

Giants still aren’t scoring runs. Zito pitched a good game last night. Zito gave up two solo home runs but that was it. He pitched a complete game and got the loss. Padres won by the score of 2-1. The Giants are trying to shake up the batting order today. They have Aaron Rowand batting leadoff. This will be the first time he’s done that in a Giants uniform. I’m all for trying anything and everything right now. This team has some good and bad games with the bats. Most of the time they are really trying hard to get a run across. Brian Sabean is going to have to really think about what arm in the Giants system is he ready to part with to get a good bat in the line up. Just hope he doesn’t panic and get rid of one of our great arms for an okay bat. If you make a move with our good pitchers. He better get a really good bat in return. I know this isn’t a regular blog for me. I’m just kind of venting right now. =) I will write a blog tomorrow about tonight’s outcome. Go Giants!

Redemption vs. Padres?

The Giants play a short 2 game series with the Padres. I’m sure the Giants would love to get a little redemption since they Padres swept them in San Diego. It won’t be an easy task for the Giants. The Padres send Peavy to the mound tonight against Cain. Then tomorrow the Padres send Young against Zito. Cain should be able to make a good pitching match up tonight against Peavy. The big question is if the Giants can score any runs. Game 2 has Zito on the mound so I’m sure most Giants fans are chalking that up as a loss. I guess were just going for the split. lol I’m sure Zito will be fine. It’s just everyone expects him to fail since he hasn’t really shown anything in a Giants uniform.

Giants have been shuffling their lineup around trying to shake things up. Burriss and Ishikawa have been in a slump since the season started. Pablo Sandoval hasn’t hit like he can, but he does have games here and there where you can tell he can hit. I think he’s out of his slump and you should see the ball jumping off his bat.

Tonight I will be switching back and forth from the Giants and Sharks games. It’s a must win for the Sharks tonight since they have dropped the first 2 games. I love when I can flip back from different games. It’s going to be a nice night. Go Giants and Go Sharks!

Giants Lineup Has Homegrown Talent – Today In Baseball History

After watching the Giants and A’s game last night. I’m ready for the season to start now. Just seeing them play at AT&T Park. Now it feels like some real baseball. Tim Lincecum out there blowing it by A’s hitters. Seeing Pablo Sandoval hit a RBI double off the right field wall. Everything is just starting to click to get me excited about the season. I know were not the Yankees or anything like that. We have some good young guys that will make the game exciting. Giants fans know the Giants always traded for guys or signed free agents. Now here is some proof that things are starting to change in Giants land.

2007 Opening Day Starting Lineup

1. Dave Roberts
2. Omar Vizquel
3. Barry Bonds
4. Ray Durham
5. Rich Aurilia
6. Pedro Feliz
7. Bengie Molina
8. Randy Winn
9. Barry Zito

We only had one homegrown player from the Giants minor league in the 2007 starting lineup. That player was Pedro (Feloser!) Feliz. The Giants have finally decided to grow some homegrown talent and have put a lot of money into scouting/developing players. This year our opening Day line up will have 5 homegrown players in that lineup. One of them is pitcher Tim Lincecum, but the other 4 are everyday players.

2009 Opening Day Lineup

1. Randy Winn
2. Edgar Renteria
3. Fred Lewis
4. Bengie Molina
5. Pablo Sandoval
6. Travis Ishikawa
7. Aaron Rowand
8. Emmanuel Burriss
9. Tim Lincecum

The 4 everyday players are Fred Lewis, Pablo Sandoval, Travis Ishikawa and Emmanuel Burriss. These 4 guys should be really exciting to watch. The Giants really like Lewis and want him in the 3 spot this year. Were hoping he can hit around 20 home runs. Lewis has a lot of speed and should get a lot of triples with his speed and the large gaps at AT&T Park.

Now Pablo Sandoval is my favorite of the 4 everyday players. This guy can flat out rake! He had 3 hits in the game last night against the A’s. He had a double of the right field wall and had a triple in the gap. He can run pretty good for a big guy. This guy looked foolish on two change ups outside and then rakes a ball off the wall on the next pitch. Don’t look at Sandoval to walk much. He’s a free swinger at the plate. He should be able to drive in a lot of runs in the 5th spot of the lineup. He also will set up the lower part of the lineup by being on base a lot. I’m sure he’s going to hit over .300 this year. I’m thinking he might hit about .320.

The next guy is Travis Ishikawa. The Giants gave him the 1st base job at the beginning of Spring Training without seeing what other guys would step up for the job. We never really got a chance to see what Ishikawa could do yet, but his spring stats helped Giants fans feel comfortable with him getting the job. Ishikawa led the Giants in home runs this spring by hitting 7. The Giants love him for his defense at 1st base, but they think he will also be able to give them some power. Ishikawa says he’s not a power hitter, but it seems to look like he might have more power than he wants to admit.

The 4th player is Emmanuel Burriss who beat out Kevin Frandsen for the 2nd base job. The Giants really love Burriss and think he can be a really good player. He has speed and has had a really good bat this spring. I’m sure he’s going to be a fine player this season.

These are just the players that are starting this season. The Giants have some other hot prospects that I’m sure will make their debut this season and might even make it to the starting lineup for next year’s opening day.

My 2nd Fantasy Baseball Team

Last Friday I did my 2nd Fantasy Draft. I had the 6th pick in the draft. My #1 pick of the draft was Josh Hamilton. I have never played Fantasy Baseball before so I’m still not to sure how everything works. I know I have two guys on this team that are injured. Dodgers vs. Giants Recap – Today In Baseball History!

Giants #5 starter Jonathan Sanchez will miss his start today against the Dodgers. Sanchez burned his finger in the kitchen. I guess he doesn’t make enough money yet to have someone cook for him. He said he will pitch on Sunday against the Dodgers at AT&T park.

Madison Bumgarner is getting his first start of the Spring for the injured Jonathan Sanchez. Giants fans are excited to see him. He’s going to be a pitcher that we look forward to seeing in the pro’s in the next few seasons.

Bumgarner starts the first inning by striking out Juan Pierre, Getting Hu to ground out and striking out Manny Ramirez.

Winn starts the game off with a single and Renteria follows that up with a single. Runners now at 1st and 3rd for Fred Lewis. Winn scores on a RBI single by Lewis. After 1 inning it’s the Giants 1 and the Dodgers 0.

Bumgarner has another perfect inning to retire the Dodgers in order in the top of the 2nd inning.

Doug Mientkiewicz hits a 2 run home run off of Justin Miller to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the top of the 4th.

Emmanuel Burriss led off the Giants bottom of the 5th with a triple off of ex-Giant Shawn Estes. Aurilia hits a RBI single scoring Burriss to tie the game at 2.

The Dodgers get the bases loaded in the top of the 6th inning, but are unable to get any runs across.

Fred Lewis hits a triple in the bottom of the 6th inning. He then scores on a sac fly by Matt Downs. Travis Ishikawa hits a solo home run to give the Giants a 4-2 lead.

The Dodgers get the bases loaded in the top of the 7th inning. The Dodgers score 3 runs and take a 5-4 lead over the Giants.

The Giants answer back in the bottom of the 8th. Andres Torres hits a solo home run to tie the game at 5. The Giants then load the bases for Matt Downs and he hits a bases clearing double. The Giants now have a 8-5 lead over the Dodgers.

Juan Castro hits a 2 run home run off of Alex Hinshaw in the top of the 8th inning. The Dodgers end up getting another run and the game is tied going into the bottom of the 8th inning.

The Giants answer right back in the bottom of the 8th scoring 2 runs to take a 10-8 lead into the 9th inning.

The Cactus League finally comes to a end. The Giants hold the Dodgers scoreless in the 9th and win 10-8.
