Quick Thoughts, Media Day, Brandon Crawford

Today was media day at AT&T Park. I was able to get in and check it out. All the players that I spoke with were very nice. The other writers and media were also pretty nice. I will be updating SF Giants Rumors with some video’s and pictures that I was able to capture. I also will not some stuff some players had to say. I probably won’t update that until Sunday or Monday.

The site currently has a Q&A With Brandon Crawford up. Crawford is the Giants #6 Prospect in their minors. He’s a shortstop who’s attending his 2nd Big League Spring Training. Check it out when you get a chance. You may want to leave a comment. He just might end up reading your comment. =)

Giants 2010 Payroll Is Up!

Hey Giants fans or fans of at team in the NL West. I recently did a break down of the Giants payroll. The payroll is up 19% from the 2009 payroll. The team hasn’t changed much but there was two additions to the offense (Mark DeRosa & Aubrey Huff) and the rest is raises for all these young guns! See how much Tim Lincecum, Brian Wilson and Matt Cain are making this year.

If you would like to see the article check it out SF Giants Rumors – Show Me The Money!. You can also see the break down of the NL West Payrolls and each teams highest paid player.

SF Giants 2010 Opener

Opening Day has come and gone. The Giants are currently on pace to win 162 games. That will more than likely not happen, because we do have Barry Zito pitching about 29 of those games. Which means the Giants will probably go 133-29 this year.  I’m only kidding….

The Giants looked great last night in the opener. Tim Lincecum was awesome and shined like a bright star in space. I’m just messing around with the star comment, but he did look really good. He went 7 strong innings and only allowed 4 hits. He didn’t give up any runs or walks. His velocity was around 92-95mph, so that quiet down some of the Lincecum haters that said he wasn’t going to be the same pitcher.

I have more insights on the SF Giants Rumors – 2010 Season Opener Recap. Check it out and leave your comments there. You can see how Mark DeRosa and Aubrey Huff did in their Giants debut.

Posey, Bumgarner – Top 50 Prospects

The Giants have two prospects that made the MLB.com’s top 50 prospects. The two players are Buster Posey and Maddison Bumgarner. Posey was ranked 4th and Bumgarner was ranked #10. The sad thing is we only had 2 of the top 50, but at least our two were in the top ten.

A lot of Giants fans are excited to see what these two guys can do. They did both play in a game together last year for the Giants. This was when the Giants got spanked by the Dodgers. Bumgarner pitched a scoreless inning with Posey behind the plate. Then Posey got his first major league hit the next inning.

For more insights from me on these two players. Go SF Giants Rumors! I have the scouting reports and more thoughts. These two guys will be part of our future, and lets get the future starting in 2010!

Thoughts on Big Bad Vlad

I have received emails from a lot of Giants fans. Asking me what I thought about different players that could be options for the Giants.

I was asked what I thought about the Giants going after Vladimir Guerrero. He has since signed with the Texas Rangers. Big bad Vlad wouldn’t have worked in San Francisco. He would need to stay in the American League as a DH. Vlad did battle some injuries, but when he was in the lineup he could still swing it. He hit .295 in 100 games. His homers were down to 15 this year. Which has been his lowest since 1997 when he played 90 games that year for the Montreal Expos.

Vlad can’t play the outfield. That’s the main reason he needs to stay in the AL. He just needs to focus on swinging the bat, and keeping himself healthy if he wants to stay around the game longer. I have no doubt that he can still swing it. It’s just his time has come and gone for playing right field.

San Francisco Giants Baseball Rumors

Winter Meetings have come and gone and it’s still quiet in San Francisco. Sure there has been a lot of hot rumors going around, but Sabean hasn’t pulled the trigger yet. The Uggla rumors is still as hot as ever. The last I heard was the Marlins want Jonathan Sanchez, Clayton Tanner and a mid-level pitching prospect. To read my thoughts on this trade rummor click here.

I also heard that the Giants organization is doing well financially. Which means they can decide to take a little pay cut and sign a big player to keep the Giants fans happy. You will want to read my thoughts on this. I explain the difference between the Giants and Yankees. To read the rest of this rumor and my reactions to it click here.

Well the season is over for us and it was a good year for us even though we didn’t make the playoffs. No one thought we would be this close at the end of the season. The Giants did win 88 games this year. The Dodgers last year won the NL West with 84 wins. The pitching was there all season. It was just the big hits that were lacking.
